Wow, I never thought I'd be gone from here as long as I have. Three years is a long time! Preparing to renew my presence on dA.

Stay tuned...

Between selling on eBay, & raising my now 17 month old son, I've had little free time to spend here or any other photo site for some time. I have to say I do miss seeing all the exceptional artists I watch to see what they are producing. Except for photography jobs & photographing my son, my own photo pursuits have been put on the backburner as well. This is causing me withdrawls! I'm hoping to change this around soon. I can't wait to get back out to shoot under the full moon, among other things. I am also itching to shoot with people again. That too has been a long, long time. So we will see what the next couple months allow. Hoping to return soon!</b>

The title of this journal is supposed to read: "life is what happens to you while you're busy making other plans..."! I felt this line from John Lennon's 'Beautiful Boy' best summed up my life at this point in time because, well, it finally happened. My wife gave birth to our first child, a healthy beautiful baby boy! This is certainly a life changing event, and one that brings much uncertainty as one can imagine. He was born 2 weeks early on the King's birthday (Elvis Presley's to be exact), January 8th. We named him Quinn

Unfortunately, my night photography will have to go on a hiatus for the time being until we all adjust to each other's routines & schedules. Hopefully not too long as photography is in my blood, & I long to get back out under the full moon soon. I will shift gears some & resume light painting in studio again. This is something I really enjoy, but have placed on a 'must-do' list that I never seem to get around to.

Landscapes too will be at a minimum as I won't be planning any trips until I can bring him along (there goes climbing Mt. Whitney this year)!

In the meantime, I plan to take a gazillion pictures of my newborn son but promise not to bore dA with them, unless of course they are of artistic stature. =D

p.s. Happy Birthday Mom!
R.I.P.

I just love images of historical reference. I ran across this interesting online exhibit at The Library of Congress. During the Great Depression, FDR's administration hired a bunch of photographers to go around photographing the areas hardest hit by hard times. These tended to be the small rural communities. The difference in these photographs is that they chose to shoot using a new kind of film...color. Here you see what life was like in an era we have only previously seen in black & white.

Don't miss Bound for Glory; America in Color, 1939-1943.
